On July 23, 2001, my family had the opportunity to visit Evernham Motorsports in Statesville, NC. Previously this was the headquarters of Bill Elliott Racing. This was my first visit since the migration of Elliott and Evernham to Dodge.

Last October shortly before the October Talldega race, I met Ray at his fab shop in Moorseville, NC. Ray was nothing but courteous to myself and my family. He invited me in to take pictures at the fab shop. I have those pictures, and eventually will scan them in and post them here.

Meanwhile, until then, I'll post these more recent snapshots. Ray was again very kind and courteous to my family and myself. He spent perhaps 10 - 15 minutes of his valuable time with us, answering questions, talking about the shop, and so on. While I'm not a Jeff Gordon fan at all, I have always had the utmost respect for Ray. Now, as a result of my second visit with him, I respect him all the more.

Following are a few snapshots I took during my July '01 visit. I hope you enjoy them. E-mail me with any questions or suggestions!

Entrance to the Munday Road facility.

Evernham Motorsports shop floor area.

Dodge power on display.

Yup, this is Ray's ol' dirt track ride.

Yet another view of shop activity. In case you're wondering, these are all #9 (Bill Elliott) cars. The only Casey Atwood vehicle in evidence is a show car, you'll see elsewhere below!

A Bill Elliott show car out on the main floor. This sits where Bill's old Dahlonegha Torino used to sit.

My children with a cardboard stand-up of Ray. I told you we saw him! <muhahahaha!>

Ok, ok, I have to offer some kind of proof we actually met him, right?! It's kind of funny... when Ray met Kerri at the fab shop, he laughed and said he thought she looked like "The Pepsi girl!". I wonder if Coke needs a poster child?! When Kerri saw Ray come out of his office, she darn near tackled the poor guy! Ray took it well and said "Usually it's Casey the girls go after!" Actually, Kerri is a big Rusty Wallace fan, but she does have a soft spot in her heart for Ray!

Ray & Pete meet again!

I'll add more pictures as I get them processed and scanned. I don't have a digital camera, so sometimes results are a little slow in coming. Thanks for visiting and come back again!
